Milligrams of kanna extract and a mesembrine percentage are not rival strength claims. One measures the stated mass of extract; the other describes a fraction of that extract, if the label clearly identifies its basis.
An example, with a limit
If a serving contains 200 mg of extract specified at 5% mesembrine, the nominal calculation is 10 mg. That arithmetic is useful for understanding the label. It is not proof that an individual finished tablet has exactly 10 mg. A batch test is needed for a measured result.
Ask what the percentage covers
A label may refer to mesembrine alone or to a wider group of alkaloids. Those are different specifications. Also distinguish a manufacturer's target from a certificate of analysis reporting a particular production lot. Confirm that the lot on the certificate matches the package.
Consider the rest of the product
A tablet's total weight includes ingredients other than kanna. Combination products may add separate actives, so their effects cannot be inferred from the mesembrine figure alone. Serving size, full ingredients and cautions remain essential.
